Fire rockets in a hail are more challenging for the crew and ship, but reduces time for the submarine to remain near the surface exposed to possible detection and attack.
Russia officially has three active Borei-class submarines and a fourth ship with an improved version. Four more are being built. Each can carry 16 Bulava SLBM missiles, which have a reported range of up to 11,000km and can carry up to six nuclear bombs.. /Periscopi/
