American Ambassador: The politicians were once vulnerable, today they fear

The two reasons that delayed the establishment of institutions such as the SPAK and the National Bureau of Investigation have already been resolved, Donald Lu says.

In a statement to Top Channel the American ambassador answers questions about what is delaying the establishment of the High Judicial Council, the Prosecutor's High Council, SPAK and the National Bureau of Investigation.

The “Vones have come for two reasons. The first was opposition to Vetting's law. They lost this challenge. The second was a delay in finding qualified candidates outside the justice system for KLG members and KLP. Both issues have already been resolved. Candidates for these institutions are moving into the Vetting process. They're going to be functional very quickly”, Donald Lu told Top Channel.

No surprise from Ambassador Lou for those who have no optimism.

It is not surprising that politicians continue to criticise and sow doubts about these structures. They were once immune. Now they're afraid of”, says Lu.

The American ambassador declared reform in justice as the main point of the diplomatic mission since its first day in Albania.
