The country's president, Hashim Thaci, is participating as a panelist at the “conference. Scenes of the GreatFinales between Kosovo and Serbia”, organised by RIDEA and supported by the Norwegian Embassy.
President Thaci has said that they have spent 20 years in full from our freedom struggle, nineteen years from the Ramboullet Pacific Conference, ten years from Kosovo's declaration of independence, seven years from the start of Brussels' talks, while Kosovo and Serbia relations are still not politically closed.
“in all international processes aimed at resolving the Kosovo issue, the Kosovo leadership has been ready for political agreement with Serbia. Tens of years have been lost in the past, without our guilt and responsibility, many good cases, in the absence of the political will of Serbia's leadership, to end political and historical hostilities between Kosovo and Serbia, which are more than a century”, President Thaci said.
He has said that both in the difficult years of war and in those of peace and of building democracy in Kosovo, even in the years when we became a state, we have been willing to make the big historic agreement with Serbia.
This readiness has been missing in Serbia”, he added.
The head of state has said that in Kosovo politics and society, we still have a broad reconciliation that has to be done the unfinished jobs in our reports with Serbia, and that the legally binding agreement must be reached for normalising relations between the two states.
“The closure of political dialogue with Serbia, with the legally binding agreement, is the national interest of Kosovo, which does not recognise government and opposition lines. In this process we must be united to close this serious and tragic historical chapter, and to pave the way for Kosovo to be an equal state to all other states in the UN, in the EU, in the NATO Pact, anywhere”, President Thaci has said.
