Criminal legislation is advanced to prevent and fight corruption and organised crime, as required by the European Agency and obligations by the Business Sector Support Agreement for Public Administration Reform. Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has made this known after attending the special group meeting for the Public Administration Reform.
Through a post on the social network Facebook, Minister Tahiri has indicated that following the adoption of the Constitutional Code Government, the Code for Criminal Procedure will soon be prosecuted.
“Since coming to the helm of the Ministry of Justice, within my competencies, I have been constantly working on advancing criminal legislation to ensure the necessary measures for preventing and combating corruption and organised crime and judicial reform, in the context of challenges posed by the European Agency in the country, and in particular the fulfillment of the obligations set out under the contract for supporting the Business Sector Reform for Public Administration Reform. I shared this message at the special group meeting for the Public Administration Reform.
Through a highly dynamic, comprehensive and professional work, the ministry has drafted and adopted to the Government Drift-Codi Penal Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and we are finalising the draft-Code of Criminal Procedure, which Tahiri will soon send to the Government for approval.
All obligations released for public administration reform, according to Tahiri, have been addressed with high priority, while new legal provisions influence the uncompetitive fight against corruption and organised crime.
“These new legal provisions will have a huge impact on the uncompetitive fight against corruption and organised crime, which is my priority in this mandate, and also express the commitment of the Ministry that obligations that arise under the contract for Financial Support for Public Administration Reform have been addressed at a high priority” has concluded Tahiri.
