Spain sees Kosovo, loses European Championship organisation (Photo)

Spain's Weightlifting Federation has strongly acknowledged the European Weightlifting Federation's decision (EWF) to lift the right to organise the U-23 European Championships in weightlifting, due to its failure to guarantee visa giving to Kosovo weightlifting. Spain does not recognise the independence of the Republic of Kosovo and its passports, and for that, the Spanish government could not provide a guarantee to the EWF if it would enable our competitors to attend.
“The host of the EWF (AWF Hasani, head of the Kosovo Weightlifting Federation) is Kosovo, and his father (Besim Hasani) is president of the Kosovo Olympic Committee without them, without them there would not be this noise, they (Kosovo) have the right to participate, but they have no level for this” championship, Constantino Iglesiasis, president of Spain's Federation of Weightlifting for “Emundos.<3x>
Two months later, in June, Kosovo will participate in the 2008 Tarragona 2018 Mediterranean Games, held in Catalun, which Iglesias says is another issue.
It's different, because behind this is the International Olympic Committee”, the Iglesias points out, which will require compensation for all the work done.
The vice president of the European Federation of Weightlifting, Spanish Emilia Estarlik, stressed that: “When Spain had declared candidacy for European organisation, there had been no such conditions if Kosovo or Gibraltar would participate, we thought the European Federation would take this into account, or Kosovo would not participate, because they did not have elite competitors, but they did and wanted to participate”.
Escarlik, expressing regret that the Spanish government had not returned to the letter the guarantee demanded by the EWF, asks whether Spain would be able to organise European or world championships if Kosovo participated?
El Mundo asks what would happen if Kosovo was located in a qualifying group with Spain for EURO 2020 in football and will coach Yulen Lopetegei's players play against the Kosovo team.
I wouldn't want to think about it, I swear I don't know how we would solve this”, reflects Iglesias.
The U-23 European Weightlifting Championship has shifted from Spain to Poland and will be held in October of this year.
