Serbia leaves Kosovo to take chairmanship of SEECP Commission

The permanent delegation of the Republic of Kosovo Assembly attended meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly General Commissions of the Southeast European Co-operation Process, which is being held in Slovenia.
The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo during these meetings was represented by MPs: Zenun Pajaziti ) Central Permanent Commission, Glauk Konjufca ., the General Commission for Justice, Internal Affairs and Security Co-operation, Avdullah Hoti - The General Commission for Economics, Infrastructure and Energy, as well as Ismail Kurteshi .
In addition to Kosovo, delegations from Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Serbia were also participating.
As the statement announces, according to the previous agenda during the meetings, candidacys for the General Commissions were proposed and approved. The consensus was decided for the period 2018/2019, the General Commission for Economics, Infrastructure and Energy to lead Turkey, the General Commission for Justice, Internal Affairs and Security Co-operation, to head Macedonia, while the General Commission for Social Development, Education, Research and Science, leads Montenegro.
The delegation from Kosovo expressed interest in taking over the chairmanship of the General Commission for Economy, Infrastructure and Energy, but was rejected by Serbia.
During the meeting, also discussed the stagnation of the decision at the headquarters of the AP Secretariat of SEECP and sought ways out of the situation.
The chairman of the meetings was Slovenia, which heads the SEECP presidency from July 1st 2017 to June 30th 2018.
The SEECP is a regional process established in Sofia in 1996 aimed at strengthening regional co-operation and trust, good neighbourly relations, stability and security, economic relations and co-operation in the human dimension, justice, the fight against organised crime and the fight against terrorism.
The regional process is the forum of diplomatic and political dialogue of Southeast European participating countries, co-ordinated by each presidency (in this period Slovenia).
The SEECP Parliamentary Assembly has an important role as it is an organisation whose ambition is to become a parliamentary leader organisation in the region and represent the most appropriate platform to meet the challenges of Southeast Europe.
Kosovo participates permanently in PBYL activities and meetings, at all levels and under equal conditions.
Meanwhile, Chief Prime Minister Kadri Veseline has written on Facebook that Kosovo will lead the SEECP in the period 2019/2020.
“Baska with counterparts and deputies of the Southeast European states met tonight in Ljubljana, while tomorrow we will hold the fifth session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEECP PA). During the SEECP works, I will present Kosovo's achievements and the progress marked by the legislature on the road to European integration. Kosovo will head the SEECP in the period 2019/20”, Veselin wrote.
