White Ahmeti from non-government organisation “LENS” has said that Kosovo is endangered by misuse of information, since, as she has said, nothing is certain in the current trains.
There are many elements of privacy protection mentioned, but real opportunities on the trains we are living in, in one form or another, our data has to be used. As long as our data is processed safely and by respecting the principles of data processing, so they don't share the third parties we don't want to share that data, we're okay”, Ahmeti said on the show “Face” on Dukajini television.
Ahmeti has stressed that Kosovo is unprepared in terms of data protection, as digital education is lacking and the opportunity to react.
In Kosovo, we are protected but also endangered by ignorance... because companies and people who can benefit from data and profile... still don't have the level of collecting and processing data. At the same time we are endangered by this, because we are extremely unprepared, starting with digital education, the opportunity to react to”, Ahmeti said.
Among other things, Ahmeti has mentioned the State Agency for the Protection of Personal Data, which he has said is nonfunctional for two years, because of a law - abiding problem and because of the problem of political influence on boards.
Meanwhile, Arifi, director of the State Agency for the Protection of Personal Data, has said that the Agency lacks five leadership positions since 2016, but has stressed that it has been managed by an Agency Council.
I'm not a dacrod that agency is malfunctioning. With NGOs we have very good co-operation. In just one segment of the inspection because as of July 2016, the agency lacks five positions, since the agency has been managed by an Agency Council, each member has been five overseers who have expired. Very soon, in May of this year, the EU's general regulation for the Protection of Personal Data will enter into force, and we have completely transmitted the content of this regulation within the new draft”, he said.
“Do not appoint a commissioner instead of the five council members who have been the previous model is hostage to this law approval procedure”, Arifi said.
