The Facebook is expected by new headlines after the Filipino government has said it is investigating the social media giant over reports that the personal information of more than 1 million users in the Philippines has been transferred to the British data analysis company Cambridge Analytica.
The National Private Commission in the Philippines said it had sent a letter to Facebook Executive Chief Mark Zuckerberg to announce that this commission wants relevant documents on the issue to find out how far the problem has been. The Commission announces via its electronic website that it intends to find out if there were personal data analysis of the Filipino citizens without their authorization.
The letter was dated April 11.
A Facebook spokesman told Reuters news agency that the company is committed to protecting user privacy and that it is co-operating with the regulatory entity in the Philippines.
