Labour and Social Management Minister Skender Recica has said Kosovo is close to reaching agreements with several European Union states for seasonal employment.
According to him, there are several reasons why the process is being blocked. The main point remains the fear of EU states, that Kosovo citizens will not implement agreements on seasonal employment and will tend to remain in EU countries not to return to Kosovo.
So far there is no formal agreement with any state for seasonal employment. We are in negotiations with several EU states. Many EU states have created facilities and opportunities for our citizens, so that if they are able to make business deals, it will be easier to obtain visas. It's not easy to deal on seasonal employment. One of those reasons is the fear of turning citizens away, failing to comply. We're on our way to formalizing something like that. We are working with Germany, with Croatia, with several European Union states”, Recica said at KTV.
Recica has also spoken of job safety, saying that an awareness campaign was launched earlier in order to prevent possible injuries. He has said employees and employers have reported that if they do not improve conditions at work, measures will be taken.
“E we've launched this campaign earlier because we want workers and employers prepared for the risks, especially in the construction sector, before the start of the big work club. We started Friday from Pristina. We've informed them of the underground acts enriched with EU directives. More care should be taken for safety and health at work. Let's not do damage, let's just prevent it. You dare not hire without security measures, helmets, or work in an environment where there is no security fence, either for him or other citizens, Recica has said.
He has stated that he has asked the Inspectorate to be more vigilant and to be more active in taking measures for safety and health at work.
As for the veterans' category, Recica has pledged how the minister has provided the necessary means to carry out the payments. It has also been declared in the category of war violence victims. It has shown that 400 applications have been accepted so far, and that the government commission has already prosecuted the first cases.
Recica has refused to talk about a final number of this category. He has said the deadline is open for five years, and that anyone who considers it fulfilling the criteria must apply.
The “has since been rejected because the commission has the mandate to prove whether a citizen applying for this status. The government commission's mandate and deadline for all victims wanting to apply for recognition of this status is five years, until February 5, 2023. In this period, those citizens who have been affected and consider that they meet the first criteria let them apply. The Commission confirms”, he said further.
