German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sebia is an important place in the region Germany works closely with.
Serbia has a key role both in Kosovo and in terms of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, Merkel said, after meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq in Berlin.
Before the closed-door meeting, Merkel said she wants “these talks to contribute to finding a solution for Kosovo, even though this may sometimes be difficult”.
Vuciq said Serbia is committed to peace and stability and that any possible conflict in the Balkans would turn all countries in the region back for 100 years.
We will do everything possible to avoid tensions, conflicts or destabilise the region”, Vucic said.
He added that the European path is vital for Serbia and that it would have to take “a number of difficult decisions if it wants to become part of the EU”.
