When Intel displayed his Vaunt glasses (aka “Superlight” within February, people had high hopes for a new wave of clothing technology that would not turn us into Borges.
Sadly, according to the source of information, the word turns out that the chip maker is closing the group responsible for the equipment that, unfortunately, included Vaunt glasses.
This was later confirmed by Intel in a statement that highlighted the lack of investments due to the “market dynamic”. Indeed, Bloomberg had reported earlier that Intel was seeking to sell most of the shares in this division, which had about 200 employees and was estimated at $350m.
Meanwhile, other technology giants, such as Amazon and Apple, still work hard on getting their cake on the market for smart glasses, so hopefully these will be as valuable as we expect.
