Facebook has reported that for political advertising on this social network, it will verify the advertisers' identity -- an effort to curb external intervention in elections worldwide.
This change has been designed to prevent election intervention, such as in the US, where American authorities have accused Russia of attempting to intervene in presidential elections, Facebook Executive Chief Mark Zuckerberg has announced.
“Intervention in elections is a problem that is bigger than any platform”, Zuckerberg said in a post, offering his support for a legislation presented at the American Congress, requiring all social networks to identify who stands behind political advertising.
Facebook has found in September that Russians have used fake names on the social network and have tried to influence American voters before and after the 2016 elections.
