The very inventor of this idea, Bajrami, has said that with this platform it is intended to unify the Albanian political spectrum about dialogue with Serbia, the formation of association of Serb majority municipalities, the founding of the army, the European agenda and electoral reform.
Bajrami in an interview for KosovoPress has called it an important moment for the moment Kosovo is going through, to have an Albanian political unity.
“After adopting the EU strategy for integration, the progress report and the fact that dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is entering the final phase is necessary a consensus for the state agenda, so that Kosovo can open up with the statehood and this year round up some extremely important processes such as dialogue with Serbia, so the final moment of the end of this dialogue. We are not talking for years now, but for the final moments, for crucial months for this dialogue to be completed in favour of Kosovo, with the end of the conflict with Serbia, and the beginning of Kosovo's membership in the UN and the EU. So we need a consensus on this dialogue. Then, about the founding of the AKS, in order to be a process entirely controlled by Albanian political parties and complete with the Constitution and Kosovo legislation. The third issue, consensus on establishing the Kosovo Army, then the European agenda and electoral reform”, Bajrami said.
Deputy Chairman Bajrami stressed that this is an act of leadership of President Veselin, a hand-in-hand offer to the opposition that, instead of going to soon elections unprepared, go with the closure of these five issues, with an opposition turnout, then the question of when the elections will be held is completely derailed.
But, according to him, holding the elections without performing homework, without rounding up the state-building agendas, will be an unrealistic moment. Bajrami also believes in the pragmatic role of the opposition to be part of this platform and end these issues of the statehood agenda.
I think the opposition will reflect positively on the fact that this is about the state agenda, it's not about the party agenda, or the government's agenda. It is imperative that opposition participation in these processes and I am sure that the opposition will reflect positively. The LDK has now drawn a similar idea, and this idea corresponds to LDK ambitions for a political party table. Even the VV, I believe, is extremely interested in taking its share of responsibility in this state agenda and at the moment I think that instead of the debates for quick, unprepared elections at this moment Kosovo does not agree, because we are in a critical phase where this year will be determining. I believe that this idea of Wessel will be correctly understood, there is no purpose for the political benefit”, he stressed.
Despite having been highly critical of the manner of dialogue and founding of the AKS, Bajrami believes the Vetevendosje Movement will also take on its share of responsibility. He even says that for these two critical processes, he has been the chairman of it PDK, Kadri Wessel. As long as you call this platform a little late, but according to him, the year 2018 is very crucial for many processes.
The “may be a bit delayed, but it is just when the progress report has come, just as the EU is giving signs of visa liberalisation, but it is also determining tasks and that Kosovo cannot slow down in this process. Being responsible for the ruling coalition, Wessel has reflected by failing to reconcile with “status quanco2>, has reflected also on the political configuration that has been created in the country to start reaching this consensus on these issues so that Kosovo does not get stuck back, and Kosovo has no time to lose, because geopoliticalism is changing in the region, and we dare not delay to seize the step and lost time with the crisis we've been going through because of the internal political clashes of<3> he said.
Bajrami believes that three of the five outstanding cases on the platform can be carried out within this year, if the political spectrum unites around this platform.
The first “, to complete the establishment of association, which really requires maximum responsibility, I call it among the more complex and challenging issues than demarcation, because we have to be very determined not to compromise beyond what is done in the case of declaring independence. Then, it is possible with a consensus to establish the Kosovo Army as well. This year it is possible to face reforms, to the ERA laws that are laws of European integration and to start the process through the Assembly, or president of electoral reform, through two processes, revising the law on parliamentary elections, and making constitutional amendments for the future president to be elected by the people”, Bajrami has said.
Subheader The PDK considers that if parliamentary political parties reach consensus on these issues, then it is much easier to pressure the Serbian List to enable constitutional changes in the formation of the military, since only there is the need for reconciliation.
According to Bajrami, unifying political leaders around this platform for state affairs would pay back seriousness and restore confidence in them even in citizens who have, for good reason, sometimes been disappointed in leadership.
