The US administration today approved arms contracts worth $4.7 billion with its European allies, including the sale of F-16-type fighter aircraft for Slovakia.
Buying 14 US F-16s from Bratislava will enable Slovakia to replace its fleet with Russian-made MiG-29.
The sum of this contract, including spare parts and air-air missiles, amounts to $2.91 billion.
On the other hand, Madrid will buy 17 heavy transport helicopters -- “CH-47F Chinook”, which along with other equipment amounts to $1.3 billion.
While London will spend $500m on its monitoring or combating programme “MQ-9 Ready”, forward to Atsh.
US President Donald Trump's administration pressured NATO members to step up their defence expenses, praising that the US has contributed much to common security within the Atlantic Alliance and that this burden should be set apart better.
