Last night's statements by LDK deputy Arben Gashi that the LDK has given up the motion to oust the Haradinaj government, the party's deputy leader, Agim Veliu, has commented. Veliu has said that the Democratic League has never had an official stance that the government should fall through the motion.
The chairman of Podujevo has also stated that unless the consensus that LDK has offered to all parties is reached, that through general consensus the country can go to the polls, then other means can be used.
“The position of the LDK chairmanship was not to start with the collapse of the government by motion, the LDK position has been to start a table with political parties to identify problematic issues with Kosovo with discugue which we can resolve which we cannot solve. If a consensus is not reached in our efforts on this issue, then other options remain open, but we still sit at the helm of the LDK and take our stance”, Veliu said.
Veliu has added that each member of the LDK can declare what he wants, but this can be done individually, not on behalf of the party.
“Individual statements are individual statements that I don't judge, they have their own canon thoughts, and I'm not against what they freely expressed to me as they think, but the LDK, the actions of the pen according to the attitudes of its structures and organs, rather than on the basis of the individual's daily statements, whoever they are”, Veliu said.
At the table of representatives from political parties held days earlier, the LDK was criticised for not mentioning early elections at all.
But, Veliu says the Democratic League has called it the table for the purpose of organising early elections, and that, according to him, if there are no steps towards this issue, then other methods to disrupt the operation of this government will be used.
“The LDK is awaiting the invitation because we agreed at the last table to continue with the table, remains the next table with the PDK invited us to attend that day, we are expecting the invitation, we will participate and discuss options. We'll find out about the timing and how to move on. But if we notice that there is no progress, then we go back to the LDK leadership, before we make any decisions”, Veliu said of the Blic Gazette.
But, despite most of his fellow partisans, who have consistently declared that the country will go to the polls this year, Veliu indicated he could not guarantee it.
Veliu said one thing is already known for certain, that the country is continuing to be in an institutional crisis, because the position has only 52 votes.
I can't say anything today whether there will be elections this year or not, but what is known is that there is a crisis in the country, just as we have said institutional and political crisis, because the government has remained with 52 votes, has lost the legitimacy of the majority, and that is also seen in the assembly where no decision is being made that no session is able to begin and end properly. But right now we like LDK don't have any stronger commitment to garnering support votes for the motion or any other way because we want to drain these opportunities that we're dealing with at LDK head”, Veliu told him.
