Vetevendosje in dialogue with Serbia on condition that Albin Kurti reject

The opposition in Kosovo responds negatively to President Hashim Thaci's calls and the Government to be an active part of dialogue with Serbia. The two opposition parties -- the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Vetevendosje Movement -- say they will not accept being part of the Kosovo Government delegation in the negotiation process under way in Brussels, [...]
When the question comes to question whether they would agree to lead Kosovo's delegation in the talks, these two opposition parties stand out.
The Democratic League of Kosovo says it would reject even if it was entrusted with the leadership role in the process, while the Vetevendosje Movement, under certain conditions, would accept that its leader, Albin Kurti, be brought to the forefront of negotiations with Serbia.
In the Democratic League of Kosovo, the head of the Parliamentary Group of this political subject, Avdullah Hoti, told Radio Free Europe, that the LDK does not become part of the dialogue, because it is an opposition party, and that as such it will require an account from the Government for the whole process.
He said the LDK is constantly asking the government for the process to take place on the basis of a clear and approved platform by the Kosovo Assembly.
It makes no sense for the opposition to lead with dialogue. It doesn't make sense because Kosovo has institutions. It is not 2005, 2006 of Vienna negotiations when it had to create comprehensive political spectrum mechanisms in the country”, Hoti said.
“Today Kosovo has its own institutions, has the president, government, parliament, has its own monitoring troops and functional institutions. The opposition has its role, so we will oversee this process and request regular reporting in the Kosovo Assembly”, Hoti said.
On the other hand, MP Xhelal Svecla from the Vetevendosje Movement says such a responsibility would be taken if certain conditions are met, such as that of establishing a national consensus for dialogue and forming an investigative commission for the process thus far.
If these preconditions are met, then Vetevendosje is available, so Albin Kurti leads these negotiations or this dialogue. The dialogue for dialogue should be inside to know what we need to dialogue with Serbia and what we don't. All this has to precede even an internal dialogue, meaning dialogue with Kosovo Serbs so that we, in relation to Serbia, can be as powerful”, Svechla said.
According to him, from the entire process of dialogue so far, Kosovo's sovereignty has been denigrated, since the Kosovo side, he estimates, has not been equal at the negotiating table.
If as a society after reaching this national consensus, as I mentioned earlier, we decide to enter into dialogue with Serbia this dialogue should certainly be dialogue between the two equal parties and for bilateral relations. But it does not take a dialogue that concerns us and our internal affairs, always at the expense and expense of the interests of this country”, Svechla said.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has already indicated that the next phase of dialogue with Serbia on the political level will be led by the presidents of both states. But, he has invited the opposition and civil society to be part of a unique Kosovo delegation that would represent the country in this phase, according to his final.
LDK MP Avdullah Hoti says dialogue should be conducted at the prime ministerial level and requires the whole process to be transparent on each topic and the point discussed in Brussels. He says against establishing the level of Kosovo talks, Serbia, at the level of presidents.
President Thaci does not represent anyone. It is the country's government that has been elected by the Kosovo Assembly votes. Kosovo's constitutional organisation is the parliamentary republic meaning that it is parliament and the government that assumes responsibility for any agreement reached or that develops dialogue and assumes responsibility for the” agreement, Hoti said.
He also said that a new platform is needed for dialogue with Serbia.
“We are waiting for the ruling coalition to bring to parliament the new platform. There we will give our word and engage in the monitoring mechanisms of the dialogue process “, Hoti said.
Representatives of nongovernmental organisations in Kosovo have said that after six years since the start of the dialogue in Brussels, in addition to the impasse in the agreement implementation plan, reports between Kosovo and Serbia have not improved, despite the proposed goal of this process.
So far Pristina and Belgrade have reached a series of agreements in the EU-launched dialogue, including the first agreement on normalisation of relations in April 2013, which envision the formation of the Association of Serb-run municipalities.
The goal of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, according to the European Union, is to relax reports between the two countries so that Kosovo and Serbia can continue further with the European integration process.
