Kosovo police have clarified over the mention of police name Mentor Shaban, whose Serbian media have not been divided since morning.
Police clarify that the police operation has been based on the decision of state institutions and relevant units, not by Lieutenant Colonel Mentor Shaban.
Full response:
The police operation has been based on the decision of the state institutions of the RKS, while being led by the Kosovo Police High Management, while Mr. Djuric was made by relevant police units, not by Lieutenant Colonel Mentor Shabani as quoted in Serbian media/portals.
Kosovo police (PK) address this official information for the media with the aim of providing fair information of public opinion, concerning some writings published today in some mainly Serbian media/portal, including tanug, which has been titled “who is Shaban, the commander of brutal action in Mitrovica”, in this regard. KP explains the following:
Kosovo police are the law enforcement institution and in all cases acts in a conform legal authorisation that it has, as it has in the case of operational police action with 26.03.2018 in north Mitrovica.
Based on police planning, The KK has been committed to implementing the Kosovo Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs decision (RKS) for halting the visit to Kosovo of Serbian officials who did not possess permission to enter Kosovo, including Mr. Djuric, and for that, has engaged relevant police units with the aim of implementing this decision.
The police operation has been based on the decision of the state institutions of the RKS, while being led by the Kosovo Police High Management, while Mr. Djuric was made by relevant police units, not by Lieutenant Colonel Mentor Shabani as quoted in Serbian media/portals.
Statements and assumptions raised by Serbian media that this police operation has been led by Mr. Shaban and other individual officials present in the media do not stand and are untrue.
Kosovo police remain committed to the realisation of its legal duties and responsibilities, including its professional commitments aimed at providing security to preserve order and public calm, as well as to fair public opinion announcement.
