Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and President Hashim Thaci are two of the former Kosovo Liberation Army commanders who have been removed from INTERPOL's papers, but they will soon return to them, writes “Blic” Belgrade's, referring to its sources.
According to unofficial information by the Serbian media, Serbia's complaint about the removal of the INTERPOL system of Thaci and Haradinaj's names, as well as about 20 former KLA participants for whom Serbia has declared an international warrant accusing them of war crimes, will be accepted and approved. This will even happen within a week, writes “Blic”. The Serbian MPB has announced that concerning the elimination of former KLA members' names, it has filed complaints with the Interpol Executive Committee.
“In co-ordination with other institutions, immediately after the announcement that more war crimes warrants have been erased from the Interpol system, we have filed complaints because of this” act, said MUP of the newspaper “Novosti”, while the same announcement today broadcasts “Blici”.
In the Serbian complaint, the paper writes, “specifically has been mentioned all violations of material rights and regulations that define Interpol's work”, with the conclusion that this organisation has made an illegal decision.
This is a precedent in the work of this organization. We expect that the Executive Committee at the next first meeting, within a few days, will accept our complaint and that the decision of several individuals from Interpol's legal service will urgently be changed, so that all the deleted arrests will be returned to the Interpol system”, the MUP says.
According to Belgrade media, former Kosovo Liberation Army commanders have been removed from the Red Arrests by bypassing the organisation's competent commissions.
Kosovo Interior Minister Flamur Sefaj announced on Tuesday that he has received confirmation from Interpol that this organisation has suspended arrest for former KLA members, whom Serbia accuses of war crimes.
“International border crossings in the future will also officially be open to Ramush Haradinaj, but also to his close associates from terrorist days Hashim Thaci, Azem Syla, Shujkri Buyey, Freedom Jakupin...”, writes the Serbian press.
