Dear citizens,
The moment I accepted the duty of the Ministry of Health, I knew that during my term there would be no only good news; that we will face different challenges together, because we all know the poor situation in this sector.
However, difficult situations we don't want we should accept and deal with. One is a drug supply, a process that has not been in the best condition lately.
It's true that I have inherited an dysfunctional system of drug planning and distribution, which I've found to be a major lack of management, but reasoning doesn't bring about a solution.
I have publicly said that by June of this year we will face this problem until we create a literal system that will continue for good even after my mandate.
However, I want to share with you the efforts and tasks that have been done during these days so that the supply of drugs will stabilize, especially for this process to be adjusted forever.
We've started restoring contracts for all the missing drugs.
We've already sent out the tenders for 300 articles of Esenscial List drugs, extensive material and Citotatics.
We've created an update and monitoring system of stocks and contracts, which will enable us to have the exact mirror up to four months before a contract expired. Thus, we will have sufficient time for the contract to be renewed in due time so that the drugs are not lacking.
We're creating such procedures so that more expensive drugs are not bought. We will no longer pay the multiple price for a product, as has happened in the past, damaging our state budget by millions of euros, but they will be taken with the reference market prices.
With the World Health Organization (OBSH) we're working intensively to review the Essencial Barnat List, which has not been made since 2012.
Besides, I'm aware that the drug supply is not yet at the level that you, me and everybody, want.
I understand your concerns. They're mine too. Together, however, we have begun changing our health, and together we will also face the troubles that we will face on our way.
I assure you, over the next few months, after the actions we've taken, the supply of drugs will be much better. And citizens who need them will receive them at the right time and place.
