Suicides and attempted suicides in Kosovo from 2001 to last year have suffered ups and downs.
The Kosovo police in an answer to Arbresh.info has said that suicide statistics in the past 17 years talk about fluctuation of figures.
According to police, the most frequent cases are victims between the ages of 18 and 40.
“As far as the gender and age of suicide victims are concerned, we cannot say that it is a certain age that dominates even though slightly more frequent cases are those with victims between the ages of 18 and 40:x1>, they say, in response.
Male gender leads with suicide, while in women this phenomenon is greater in the case of attempted cases.
When we talk about gender, male gender victims lead in performing this act, while there are more cases of female gender for the remaining cases,”, police have said.
According to statistics sent by Kosovo police, the number of suicides has been the lowest in 2008 to 28 suicides, while for attempted suicide 2001 has been the lowest with 41 attempted suicide.
The highest suicide rate was between 2014 and 77 suicides, and in 2010, there were 372 people trying to end their lives.

Kosovo police have said the suicide issue is handled by relevant institutions that have a pre-emptive and advisory role, otherwise police investigate the suicide case only if they are suspected that the individual in question has been forced to commit this act.
“Suicide as an act, is handled by institutions and individuals of different professions. Each is approached by its own field of action. It's a subject of psychologists, doctors, etc., which has a preemptive and advisory role. Police investigate these cases when the person is suspected to have been driven to do such an act, that is, when dealing with the consumption of the Criminal Acts: “becoming suicide” or “assisted in suicide”, police response reported.
