A senior delegation of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Space and Strategic Investment, Dardan Gashi, is standing for a visit to Toronto, Canada, to introduce Kosovo's mining resources at the world's largest mining convention, PAC 2018.
Gashi, accompanied by Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka, Trepca Director Ahmet Tmava, and top KPM officials, on the first day of this convention have held a presentation ahead of more than 10 large companies, mostly from Canada, which have expressed interest in investing in Kosovo's mining sector.
In his opening speech, Gashi has stressed legal reform in the area of strategic investments Kosovo institutions are doing, to create the climate as favourable for foreign investors.
“We have an advanced law on strategic investment, this law that protects the foreign investor, entirely in line with the directives of the European Union”, Gashi stressed, citing the first app of a company to qualify as a strategic investor, with an investment of around 130m euros in renewable energy.
Gashi also stressed that the Kosovo market, particularly the one in the mining field and minerals, is open to the world.
We look forward to your offers so that you can represent not only investors but also partners in the further development of our state”.
During this session, Minister Luka presented opportunities for investments in particular areas of interest, such as Vladhi, Gumnisht, Karach, Baks, Bresalz, Gegovce of the Deve, while KPM experts, respectively Azem Reja, a member of the KPM board, told of details of the possibilities of mining exploration found in these areas of interest.
Kosovo has the largest lignite, lead and Zink reserves in Europe. We encourage you to come and invest in Kosovo. We guarantee that my office and my colleagues will always be open to any concern you may have. Your investment is guaranteed”, complete his word, v. Prime Minister Gashi.
At the session for Kosovo, companies were also present from China, Bulgaria, Turkey, Albania, Azerbaijan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In the coming days, Gashi will have state-level meetings of Ontario, with the business community, both Albanian and Canadian, interested in investment opportunities in Kosovo.
