The prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, one of the highest commanders of the KLA, Ramush Haradinaj, has been remembering moments since the start of the open war in Dukagjin on 24 March 1998, where the goal of Serbian forces was his family.
Ramush Haradinaj, then commander of the Dukagjini Operative Zone, today the country's prime minister, has linked March 24th as a double date with that of NATO attacks on Serbian targets.
Haradinaj, for Radio Dukagjin, said Serbia has received the answer on March 24th, 1998 and on March 24th 99, but that does not mean that with Serbia today, the last chapters opened in peace and neighbourhood should not be closed.
Kosovo has decided to be a sovereign and independent state, such as Kosovo has its own arguments, rights, has its own people, has friends understood, but there are opponents. As a project Kosovo will move forward. We've got days of sieges that are consistent with our right even when it was hard, so we know it now. Understandably, we are interested in closing the last chapters with Serbia, but with that it does not mean that we will forget the past and the tragic side, but we will by no means remain its hostage. So we're going to move forward”, Haradinaj said.
Prime Minister Haradinaj has also spoken of the glory of the KLA war and eternal gratitude for NATO in charge of the United States. In this context Haradinaj has said that today in the government building they raise the NATO flag while the government will pay tribute to Glodjan.
Our “History has special days, just as it is 5.6 and March 7 of the legendary Praequise, and today's date is special, so it's open frontal warfare in Dukagjin. Fortunately, this day's epilogue happened that the KLA won the battle. The same day began the creation of the free zone, and the KLA increased the belief of the population, that by becoming KLA can help free the country. But the war was not and it is not simple. We had families, we had civilians, the wounded, but for our good fortune, a year later, March 24, 1999 was the US-led NATO that intervened with air strikes. But let's not forget that all of this was the result of earlier efforts among generations of people and our nation that sacrificed”, he said.
