Facebook has information for you that you don't want to know, like. Your whereabouts at any time or things you wrote to your friends.
Considering how much time people spend on Facebook, it's no wonder that Facebook increases your access to information.
But in June 2016, this social network presented a patent app that would allow them to use an algorithm that would predict the wealth of their users.
The application presentation data was released only in February 2018, when the US License Office published documents on it. The license and algorithm will use data provided only by users, answering a series of questions, as well as those they gave unconsciously using Facebook.
The online system used the classification for projecting socioeconomic groups of network users. The classification has been used by models that are designed according to user-related population data, such as demographic information, equipment ownership, internet use, home information and socioeconomic status. The social network will create content that will emerge depending on its connection to a particular socioeconomic group.
It's speculated that Facebook has a license for this algorithm, but it doesn't mean it will. After all, they have been using it since 2016 and so far. Besides, it's not a hundred percent reliable, and that's just an estimate.
“We often look for patents for technologies that we have never implemented, and this is not an indicator of our future” plans, Facebook spokeswoman said.
