The first winner of the Eurovision song contest, Lys Assia, has died at the age of 94.
Assia has won this award for Switzerland in 1956.
Race organisers have announced her death on 24 March in Zurich and have said she has faced health problems in recent years.
Eurovision has described it as the first <x0) area of the race and said it will honour it in the coming days.
We are very sad with the news that Lys Assia, the Eurovision Grand Dama is dead. Our first winner in 1956 and supporter of our race forever” is said in a Twitter post by Eurovision organisers.
