The warrant was issued Friday, a day after Puigdemont arrived in Finland, while on Saturday he left.
The former Catalan leader since last October, where the secession referendum from Spain was held, has lived in Belgium.
The Finnish daily “Helsingin Sanomat” quoted an official from the National Bureau of Investigation as saying authorities were unaware of Mr. Puigdemont.
Tensions in Catalonia are very high, and its separatist leaders have abandoned plans to appoint a new president after the recent candidate's arrest.
Meanwhile Friday evening there were violent protests in Catalonia, where protesters clashed with police after Spain's Supreme Court ruled that 25 Catalan leaders should be tried for rebellion, embezzlement or disobedience to the state.
Punishments for them could result in up to 30 years in prison, but all deny charges.
