Following an alleged attack on a school in northeastern Nigeria by Boko Haram, some students are missing, according to the local government and military sources.
Police said Wednesday that 111 girls from a school in Dapchi, in the state of Yobes have been lost after an armed group allegedly kidnapped them at Monday night, reports “Al Jazeera”, the Periscopi broadcast.
Yobes Governor Abdullah Bego's spokesman stated that some <x0... girls... were rescued from several Nigerian army officers and people from terrorists who had kidnapped them. ”
He added the now saved “girls are in custody of the Nigerian Army. ”
Initially, students reportedly had fled the attack with their teachers after encountering shootings.
A top military source in Borno's capital, Maiduguri, told the news agency “AFP” that students were found kidnapped on the border between Yobe and Borno.
More than 20,000 people have been killed and another two million have been forced to flee their homes in northeastern Nigeria since Boko Haram launched a campaign in 2009 with the goal of forming a breakaway state./Periscopi/
