Social Democrat Party MP Wisar Ymeri has said it is extremely disturbing to hear such a statement by Commissioner for European Neighborship and Negotia for Enlargement Johannes Hahn for the visa process for Kosovo citizens.
Ymer has said this process had been unfairly linked to the ratification of the Border Line Marking Agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro, conditioning this one that never had any logical explanation.
And now that this agreement has been ratified, we are told that, however, the visa liberalisation process must wait. That's how the credibility of EU institutions” is being questioned, Ymer has said. “Free movement is one of European rights and values. Therefore, the reluctance of certain EU member states, to extend these rights even to Kosovo citizens, conflicts directly with fundamental values and rights that have built and enabled the European Union to date, has added further.
Ymer has also said it is wrong and harmful for EU policies, especially in the face of the Kosovo region, to begin to be designed based on extreme rightist xenophobic attitudes.
The popularity of such political forces is disturbing for all. Partial surrenders against them risk giving them rights, instead of fighting and reducing them”, Ymer said.
Of course, Kosovo governance and rule of law should be changed. These, not because of EU conditions, but because of freedom, equality and citizens' welfare. But these are not changed by meeting objective criteria in the registry of several Brussels Democrats, but with a progressive developmental vision for the economy and society, and with a comprehensive process of self-involving judiciary, police and procurement”, MP Ymer has said further.
