“images Super High definition” 8K offers a resolution 16 times larger than an HD television. However, few currently have the necessary TVs or equipment to receive such a transmission.
The NHK says it developed 8K, which it calls “Super Vision”, since 1995. In addition to better resolution of the images, transmission may include 24 audio channels for an amazing experience of sound.
The NHK hopes to broadcast the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and the Paralypics using this format. Television producers, including Samsung and LG, have warned of the marketing of 8K television sets, but they remain too expensive for broad use.
New Channel NHK, “BS8K” will broadcast about 12 hours of programme per day. The first program, at 10 local time, will be an information broadcast, which will include a summary of future transmissions in the channel.
