In general, energy consumption reaches over 18,000 megawatts in a single day during the winter season.
The important factor affecting increased energy spending during the winter season is estimated to be the high price of fuels, such as a coat or even a wood. Media have reported on several occasions that citizens have complained about the high price of these subjects.
On the other hand, Kosovo continues to have low electricity prices compared to countries in the region and beyond.
Based on the European Commission Statistics Office data, E NOOSTAT, released late last year in Kosovo, the price for kilowatt/h is 6.9 cents, which is almost twice as low as Montenegro, where 1 kilowatt/hour costs 11.1 cents. In Macedonia, the price is 8.2 cents per kilowatt/h, while in Serbia it is 8 cents. In Croatia the price is even higher, at 13.3 cents, while in Slovenia, 19.8 cents.
KED spokesman Viktor Buzhala appeals to citizens to save electricity as much as possible.
He also laments that the apparent increase in electricity consumption is causing overloads on the network, resulting in various technical problems.
Of course, the old network makes the situation even more difficult. So we constantly invest in replacing the current network with a modern”, Buzhala says.
And I think it's necessary to explain that just because of the problems on the grid we're forced to stop the power supply at different locations. So, I'm talking about a couple of hours off, which we call consumers in advance, and it's not about reducing electricity, as it's being reported in our media, ” that explains.
