The number of robberies in recent months in our country has marked increases.
As a result of a robbery that took place at a bank in Istog, police officer Izet Demaj was also killed in the post following robbers.
To express his concern for recent cases of robbery, Kosovo Police Director General Rashit Qalaj has held meetings with management staff and Pristina Regional Directorate stations today.
The main theme of this meeting was the additional enterprise of immediate measures, with the aim of preventing various criminal acts, with particular emphasis on robberies, as well as arresting the heads of criminal acts.
At this meeting, Qalaj has raised key issues involving citizens' security, community co-operation and meetings, security in traffic, prevention of criminal acts such as robbery, theft, drugs, demanding more work and engagement to create an even calmer and safer climate for citizens, which also contributes to the country's overall security.
In addition to drafting the operational order, the Regional Directorate was asked to implement concrete plans to prevent robbery, ensure locations of particular importance, sensitive locations, by introducing different police units, police platoons, units for quick response and special operational units.
The police community reportedly has prepared Kosovo Police for the New Year's Day operational order to manage the security situation during the holiday season, aimed at preventing any risks for public safety, order and tranquillity, as well as life or public and private wealth.
