Trade and Industry Minister Andrew Shala hosted the non-resident Canadian ambassador to Kosovo, Daniel Maksymick, who discussed deepening co-operation and developments in the country.
Minister Shala announced Ambassador Maxymiuk's priorities for the MTI and the possibility of the Canadian state investing in Kosovo in the field of mining and minerals.
It is an honor and satisfaction to wait at the meeting, because Kosovo considers it more than a friendly state for Canada. It is continuing in fulfillment of plans the Government of Kosovo has, which are ahead for this year, simultaneously increasing the dynamic in each field. Within this resort I have identified my priorities which I think to focus more and that are consumer protection, attracting foreign investment, because the ministry I run also implements the Strategic Investment Law and improving the quality of products that are offered to our citizens on the market. I also have the focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and supporting local producers and promoting export”, Minister Shala stressed.
During this meeting, it was also discussed on Canadian investment opportunities in the mining sector that Ambassador Maksymick expressed willingness to invest in Kosovo for Kosovo's economic development.
Shala's minister asked the ambassador to encourage Canadian businesses to invest in Kosovo by expressing readiness for full support, showing the commitment of any institution to be business lawyer expressing will to invest
