Era Istrefi is putting Kosovo on the map even if some do not want it to be there.
The 24-year-old singer from Pristina has enjoyed a rapid increase in international popularity.
After one of her Albanian songs became global and won an agreement with Sony Yltra Music, she performed this year's official World Cup song, “Live It Up”, along with American stars Nicky Jam and Will Smith.
Ten years after Kosovo declared independence from Serbia, Istrefi is part of a new generation of sports artists and stars that give territory é and the Balkans an alternative image dominated by poverty, crime and corrupt politicians who quarrel about the future.
While many of its contemporaries with Kosovo roots, such as singer Rita Ora and Liverpool football player Gerdan Shaqiri, grew up in Western Europe, Istrefi is 100 per cent local product evidence for local artists that local talent could explode abroad.
Istrefi, whose musical style has been compared to Sia and Rianna, is already preparing for the first album to be delivered in 2019. Personally, that's all you can expect from a new, attractive, tempting pop star.
Although she does not sing about politics, the battle for Kosovo's future threatened to destroy the great moment of the Istrefi World Cup. Russia, which does not recognise Kosovo's territory, refused to leave it with the Kosovo passport to enter the Russian state.
“Though not singing for politics, the battle for Kosovo's future threatened the moment in the world. Russia, which does not recognise territory, refused to let it enter with Kosovo passport. Fortunately, Albania gave it citizenship, enabling it to perform at the ceremony attended by millions of people “Politco”, writes. “The fact that I was there was enough political statement”, she said
“Politco” has also written that the Wind with Eagle through the Instagram has sought recognition of Kosovo worldwide.
