Democratic League of Kosovo has charged coalition PAN, in the 2017 election campaign, has signed a memorandum with the Federation of Health Unions of Kosovo with the promise of salary increases. Meanwhile, the PAN government at the beginning of the mandate increased illegal salaries only for the prime minister, for five deputy prime ministers, for 80 deputy ministers, for over 200 their advisers and other close people.
The LDK says that after that decision, early in 2018, surgeons in Hospital Services rightly went on strike. Minister Ismaili promised the strikers that the most distant in June 2018 would increase wages for them, and if that did not happen, Minister Ismaili had indicated that he himself would join the strike.
We're now closing in 2018. Salaries have not been raised for health workers, while Minister Ismaili is not part of the strike, nor has he resigned. The law on salaries was passed in the first-read Assembly, but the budget for 2019 does not envision growth. Hence, health workers rightly require keeping their promises and realising their rights. The new wage law, if adopted in second reading as it is now, will further increase wage in the public sector. The same principle “The same salary for the same job” is not respected in the public sector's wage structure. As such, this law should not be passed on second reading, but be brought back into question with health workers, educators, policemen, civil service and other categories of employees in the public sector. We express regret for the health situation, where many patients cannot receive the necessary services in public hospitals. For any deterioration of the responsible situation remains the coalition PAN”, said in communique
