Haradinaj: EU was to treat us seriously, we had no choice against Serbia

Prime Minister Haradinaj has said that measures have begun to be taken against Serbia, as Kosovo's voice has not been heard enough in the European Union. In an interview for “Financial Times”, Haradinaj has said that the 100 per cent tax on Serbia was not out of arrogance, but after there was no other way.

Haradinaj has asked the EU to take more seriously Kosovo's aspirations for membership in the union to avoid instability in the region. The government chief accuses Serbia of implementing Russia's interests, to bring tensions to the region.

The FT writes that these comments by Kosovo's prime minister come at a time of high tensions between Kosovo and Serbia. This mentions the draft draft transformation of the KSF into the military, which will be put to the polls on December 14th.

“We didn't do it out of arrogance, but because we didn't have another choice”, the prime minister for FT said.

“We have complained to the European Commission all these years that Serbia was not respecting CEFTA, not respecting the Brussels agreements and not respecting the other promises given on the table, but they were not very focused on us”, he added.

The prime minister has said that the idea of moving borders and exchanging territories has been “a dangerous plan for the” region.

While the Financial Times describes the partition plan as an idea launched by President Hashim Thaci, Aleksandar Vuciq and some European leaders.

It is absurd that we engage in this exchange agreement, only for Serbia to recognise a fact that Kosovo is a state. We are known by half of the United Nations”, the head of government has declared.
