The European Union through a letter sent to Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj makes it clear to the Kosovo government at what level it has begun and should continue the Kosovo dialogue on Serbia.
In a letter Prime Minister Haradinaj has accepted from EU High Representative Federica Moghrini, Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom, as well as Commissioner Johannes Hahn, it is said that Kosovo dialogue by the Kosovo side is led by President Thaci.
EU representatives in this letter write that the resolution adopted by the Assembly of Kosovo is an important development and will contribute to strengthening the weight of Kosovo authorities and would have to enable relief, accelerating the process constructively, within the current organisation of High-level Dialogue.
“We welcome it and view it as an input within Kosovo's positions that will be expressed by its president in the current dialogue, which constitutes for the EU the only real framework for addressing the normalisation of relations between Pristina and Belgrade”, the letter of top European representatives says. They charge Haradinaj with unilateral decisions is jeopardising the progress that has been achieved in this dialogue. “We strongly disagree with your assessment that dialogue is stalled. On the contrary, the dialogue led by the two presidents was marking and has marked steady progress. We have shared this assessment with EU leaders at the European Council this December and received encouraging messages of support”, it says in this letter.
European representatives write that unilateral action or statements at the wrong time, from any side, can only be harmful and slow the progress that can be achieved within the framework of dialogue.
