The former super middleweight world champion in professional boxing, Marcus Beyer, has died at the age of 47.
Beyer died in a Berlin hospital after a brief battle with a serious illness, his family reports, reports the Express newspaper.

His former coach, Willi Wegner, has said that there is no word to describe the pain of losing a good man like Beyer.
I can't literally describe what I feel. Everyone knows he was my favorite athlete and, above all, a good man”, Wegner said.
Beyer boxed for the last time in 2008, and from 2015 he worked as a boxing analyst on German MDR television.
