Albania's president decorates Macedonian-born writer Sterjo Spassen

The president of the Republic of Albania, Ilir Meta, today decorated renowned writer Steryo Spasse (after Death) with the title “Cavalry of the Flag Order”.

The award was delivered during the scientific symposium dedicated to “Life and the literary work of Steryo Spasses”, which was held at the University “Fan S. Korca's Noli” in co-operation with the Macedonian Association “SONCE”

The motivation for honour was: “in recognition of the outstanding Albanian literature work, inspiring with its work the high values of human, civic, social and national dignity. For his outstanding educational and intellectual activity, his precious role and ethno-cultural contribution to our country”.

After receiving the top decoration, the writer's son, Ilinden Spasse, pointed out among other things that: the Kalitora Order of the Flag, who is given Steryo Spasse by President Meta in Korca, for me, is a very beautiful and significant finding, because Corcha, has been the first window where Sterjo faced civil culture, where he felt the warm hand of his first teachers, not only taught and educated, but also helped him orient and continued to continue in the Plain of Elbas. However, just as Corca knew how to inspire and honor her alive, he knew how to legalize her, whether by the news on electronic media or by the scriptures she published in her press or by the many comforting telegrams and visits to his family. In a symbolic way, Steryo, who worked with a lifelong commitment to the education and emancipation of new generations, is the very ones who now value and honor him on occasion at various jubilee meetings. So I always have two words from my heart: Thank you, Korca.

I was delighted to accept the invitation to participate in this symposium, which values and honours the life and work of the great intellectual and writer Steryo Spasse and sincerely congratulates the two organising institutions, APUFan S. Noliʹ and the Macedonian association SONCE.

Albania always needs to exist more and more and more and to evaluate the personalities of art, culture, science, who through their activities have overcome the ordinary and the daily.

Sterjo Spasse is exactly such a personality.

He remains the writer, the citizen and intellectual publicist, who has created his historical volume and is part of those figures that have given history special qualities and received from it the unforgettable figure of a traceive personality.

Steryo Spasse, of the value of his literary and social creativity, remains the personality of integrity and individuality, with very high subtlety and quality.

His famous Roman WHY warned of the creation of modern literature in Albania, while the great cause through this extraordinary work remains the presumption of the subject of social liberation with the novel HINA was not alone.

His work and literary activity are based on tradition, national history, and culture, with its outstanding virtues of our people, which he skillfully promoted in art, through simple and rich language, and through deep thought and ideas.

The figure of Sterjo Spasse embodys not only the prominent intellectual and writer of our country, but also an incomparable figure at the Balkan and European level.

As the prominent son of the Macedonian community, Sterjo Sposase became the inspiration and spiritual bridge of the co-operation of Albanians and Macedonians.

The life, activity, and wine of this unique and outstanding personality are perfect and harmonious symbiosis within a man of both societies or peoples in behalf of harmony and love.

This element was especially prominent in its famous novels of Awakening, and Pyshtari, rightly considered the source of still unexplorable Balkan intercommunication.

Steryo Spasse represents an extremely vivid example, teaching politics, politicians and society today that borders should not be used for division, but as an opportunity to build sustainable human, intellectual, cultural and economic co-operation.

Steryo Spasse was also a great humanitarian.

His respect and love for origin combined with the environment of his intellectual cultivation made him not only a respected man but also an example for posterity of the creators.

He studied in Elbasan and Korca, the two most prominent cities in the field of education. He worked and loved education in these cities, lived and worked with the greatest people in our national culture of time and became a protagonist of the ace of this culture, becoming both proverbial with more books and definitions in his own novels.

So I've decided that this remarkable intellectual I award today, to this symposium that meets in honour of him and in the city of Korca, that he so loved and carved into his novels, the high title Calaors of the Flag Order.

His Eternal Work! Sterjo Spasse will always remain one and indigestion.”
