Ukraine banned Russian males from 16 to 60 years of age, announced the country's president, Petro Porosenko.
The decision comes at a time of mounting tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as the Russian coast guard last Sunday opened fire on Ukraine's ships, annexing three of them and arresting 24 sailors.
The Indies took place on the shores of the Crimean region of Ukraine, annexed by Russia in 2014.
In response, Ukraine declared a state of war in parts of its territory.
Poroshenko said in a Twitter post that Russian travelers' restrictions have been taken to prevent the Russians from forming the private “ustrics” that fight on Ukraine's land.
Petro Tsigical, head of the Ukrainian border guard's service, said the border points would act on the president's request.
