Trade and Industry Minister Andrew Shala has met with the directors of the Municipal Inspections Directors for co-ordination of jobs and harmonisation of actions.

Shala has presented the work she has done since she received the mandate, since, pointing to priorities and has called for co-operation in implementing laws.

The reason for this meeting is to negotiate to find the best way to co-operate with the MTI Inspectorate and veterinarian Inspectorate. My priorities have established consumer protection and the quality of products. For me, very important are law enforcement, the creation of infrastructure needed for quality products, protection and promotion of local products and consumer protection. So far, when only a month of my appointment as minister has passed, we have made some decisions that are very important to our country's economy and the future of generations. But we, like Government and the Minister, can make very good laws and decisions, but for these to be lived, it takes the greatest and most common commitment of all of us”, the minister Shala stressed.

The minister has asked the directors of municipal inspections to prioritize enforcement of the ordinance that prohibits the sale of tobacco and alcoholic beverages to minors, also to identify and eliminate toys that have proved to be out of standards and to be available when the law in force forces businesses to place national flags on shelves that indicate the origin of goods.

“Vlerating that the inspectors have a key role in improving the market, therefore I ask you to co-operate closely with the market invest in the MTI and with particular emphasis on monitoring the consumer protection law, the law on internal trade, as well as support and co-operation, even in the delegateal duties”, Minister Shala has said.

While MTI Chief Inspector Lulzim Syla has said co-operation between the Inspectorate and other competent bodies is on the level and that their focus is the largest promotion of local products. Municipal inspectors have thanked Minister Shala for the meeting he has organised and have stressed that it has not happened earlier that a minister of Turkey expects at the meeting. They have expressed readiness for co-operation and have addressed the problems they face in carrying out their task.

Minister Shala has expressed readiness to offer technical and logistical assistance and has estimated there will be more frequent meetings to co-ordinate works. Blerim Hyseni, chief of market inspectors, Mitrovica Division, has said they have problems, especially with delaying the examination of the subjects in the courts, and has stressed that it is the first time a minister expects them at the meeting.
