At a media conference after this decision, Trade Minister Andrew Shala has said local producers, importers and businessmen must join the country's cause for economic development.
“Citizens, producers, importers and businessmen invite all to join the country's developmental cause and the welfare of the people. I ask manufacturers to focus more on quality. To achieve the highest standards and quality so that Kosovo's citizen is not puzzled about daily consumption and consume local products. Let's all get together and find creative solutions. Find other locations to import into Kosovo. It is only Serbia and Bosnia in this region”, he has said.
MTI has said the 100 per cent tax increase in goods imported from Serbia comes to protect the country.
I've done my job with this case. I'm doing my duty as minister. In my competencies as minister and after the analysis of relevant departments we have proposed this measure and this move was taken to protect the country's economy and, above all, in protecting our country's national security”, Shala added.
Shala has said that from today all agencies have been forced to prevent importation of any product that does not have the appointment label Republic of Kosovo.
He has said this move will not return until Serbia and Bosnia treat Kosovo as a state.
For the increase in the price of bread after the initial 10 percent tax, Shala has said that they have information that the price has increased by trade deals.
As far as I've got information, the wheat growth was even before the measure was taken. This is due to the mass but also because of the increase in the price of wheat in the bead. I have engaged the market inspectors in collaboration with all inspectors to monitor and identify any increase or any attempted growth that is unreasonable. I request from the Kosovo competition agency because the increase in the price of bread after information has been made with agreements between companies and authorities for the investigation and measures for this is the Kosovar Competition Agency”, Shala added.
