For Serbia, politics “and the EU, even Kosovo” has failed since 2011

Serbia, without resolving the Kosovo issue, cannot move in the direction of the European Union, but this solution does not mean recognition. Thus, according to B92, it was said today during a debate that took place with the organisation of the Serbian Institute for European Affairs.
During the “A debate, Serbia can be in the EU without resolving the Kosovo issue” it turned out that partition is one of the legitimate solutions, but also that in Serbia it is slowly legitimising the position that Kosovo's independence is one of the real options and that maybe it is the price to be paid that something can be taken in return, Time.net broadcasts.
European Movement in Serbia Secretary-General Suzana Grubjesic says Kosovo has been on the European road since its start represents the condition Serbia must meet.
No one is asking for recognition. Recognition is essential for compromise, whereas each compromise is an act of bravery. We're still waiting for this”, Grubjesic has indicated.
He also said that partitioning is a legitimate solution, and he remembers that the policy “both the EU and Kosovo” has failed since 2011.
She also considers that in the atmosphere what is now hard to deal with will happen sooner the continuation of the dialogue in Brussels, which does not mean there are no other countries.
Belgrade Fund for Political Efficiency Programme Director Marko Savkovovic considers that as long as the two Germanys' model appeared to be used, there has been an opportunity for Serbia to continue towards the EU without the final resolution of the Kosovo issue, but that possibility has been completed since the stage the notion of border re-defining was introduced.
He said most in Serbia and Kosovo are against partition, but that does not mean that a new reality cannot be created, among other things, what messages are that it is the best solution.
Speaking of the eventual division, Savkovic said it would have to be part of the wide package, that in that case the situation would have to be resolved in BiH, as well as that Belgrade, Pristina and Tirana would have to provide clear assurances of where the borders end.
European portal Executive Editor Western Balkans Nikola Burazer considers that from the start it was clear that Serbia should normalise relations with Kosovo, if it wants to join the EU.
“Thelebi lies in the fact that without a solution that would enable Kosovo the journey towards EU membership, Serbia's membership is not possible”, Buzer said.
He considers that since the story of redefining the borders is on the table, there is no dialogue, while only speculates how far this agreement has reached.
Serbia's Institute for European Affairs Director Naim Leo Beshiri says there is a position in the EU that a comprehensive agreement should be reached, legally binding agreement that would solve and decontain certain problems.
“The solution is necessary but to reach the EU”, he said.
