As MPMS reports, during his address to European Union ministers and senior representatives, Recica said the prospect for EU membership is an important reference point in our country's socioeconomic policy. He stressed that few countries from the region and beyond could have experienced greater changes in terms of social policies and welfare systems than Kosovo has over the past three decades.
“Anyway, we can talk today about a relatively well-consolidated and complete system, about which Kosovo has consistently received support from the EU through continued partnership”, the minister said.
He stressed that Kosovo faces low employment rates, however, has noted tangible progress in employment growth efforts and job market consolidation, and these efforts will continue further in order to discourage young people especially from emigrating to other countries.
“MPMS has drafted the Sector Strategy, which envisions the creation of better policies in social and family and employment and based on it, we have begun a general reform not only in these areas but also in the creation of social dialogue, the pension field, as well as limited capacity through necessary legal changes. All of this in order to transform the system of social welfare in Kosovo into a literal and sustainable system, where its citizens receive the benefits and services earned by the state”, said the minister.
Recica stressed that only with strong commitment, but with the help of partners such as the EU, we can improve the social welfare of citizens and follow the country's only path, full EU membership. For these social policies, he said Kosovo is guided by EU principles and values and social justice rights and principles for all citizens indiscriminately.
