Social Democrat Party Chairman and Chairman-in-chief Shpend Ahmeti and Belgzim Kamberi have been hosting Pristina today, Commissioner for Continental Europe at France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Florence Mangin, government officer responsible for the Republic of Kosovo at France's Foreign Affairs Ministry Office for the Balkans Fanny Sebba, official from Political Office Timothee Barbier, and Ambassador of the Ambassador Republic of France in Kosovo, Didier Chatbert, has announced PSD through a communique.
Relations between Kosovo and France, political developments in the country, and with particular emphasis dialogue with Serbia, were the main topics of the meeting.
Thanking French authorities for continuing support in the statehood of the Republic of Kosovo, President Shpend Ahmeti voiced the Social Democrat Party's stance that the Republic's Assembly should be a host of dialogue with Serbia, from which state platforms, negotiating team and supervisory commission should stem.
The head of the PSD reiterated that President Hashim Thaci has no legitimacy to address the talks on behalf of Kosovo, and that the republic's Assembly should define the premises on which the negotiating team and the principles over which an eventual agreement with Serbia would be negotiated further, said the communiqué.
Disgusting the importance of the European perspective for the region, Ahmeti asked the French state for support for visa liberalisation for Kosovo and Kosovo's membership in Interpol.
France officials expressed their confidence that political parties, represented in the Kosovo Assembly, will soon find a common solution to move forward in dialogue with Serbia, in the post of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement. French diplomats also singled out the need for justice reform, especially the adoption and implementation of the Law for the seizure of illegal property.
