To ease this situation, Germany intends to engage labour forces abroad. German Health Minister Jens Spahn has said that the eyes for this workforce are towards Kosovo and Albania.
The German daily “Bild” has visited a senior nursing school in Pristina managed by a German entrepreneurial family. It trains the future of German nursing for the elderly, writes “Bild”.
German Health Minister Jens Spahn will seek assistance in Southeast Europe in resolving the problem with lack of health personnel. In particular in Kosovo and Albania there is a very high potential of the new workforce, he told the German newspaper “Bild am Sonntag”.
The preparation of personnel there is often better than we think we have”, Spahn said. “But there are many big problems with giving visas”.
The CDU politician says that “what I can't understand at all is that these prepared and educated persons should often wait up to ten months for a visa for Germany. These procedures must be accelerated”. Even recognition of diplomas lasts too long, the minister thinks.
Spahn claims that Germany needs about 50,000 people working in the health and care sector for the elderly.
We should seek help in countries outside Germany”, he said. In Germany, there are no longer nearly any hospitals or institutions for the sake of having no labour force from other countries.
Labour Minister Hubert Heil (SPD) plans to introduce the right for foreigners to obtain visas for six months in order to seek work in Germany.
