State police in Albania have provided an official explanation for the way former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski managed to escape justice in his country by going through the Albanian border.
An international arrest warrant has been issued to Gruevski, but Albanian police say Interpol Skopje has sent Interpol's announcement of a 13 November announcement to Tirana. Meanwhile, Gruevski has passed through the Khan Hot border point on November 11th, days when police say there has been no announcement on the border that he is a wanted person. Macedonian authorities issued arrest warrants for 12 November after he failed to volunteer for serving a two-year prison sentence because of a criminal offence.
Police sources say Gruvski has entered Albanian territory across the green border, as he does not appear registered in the T system IMS. It has gone further out of Albania through the Han Hoti border point, with a Hungarian Embassy vehicle in Tirana, with CD1013A license plates. Furthermore, from Montenegro he has gone to Hungary, where he has also sought political refuge from authorities there.
Over Gruevski burdens charges of abuse of office during the purchase of government needs of a “Mercedes” worth about 600 thousand euros. Nikola Gruevski was sentenced by the Court for misusing official office with an all-powerful decision to two years in prison. In addition, Gruevski is tried on four other criminal charges.
