With this act, Montenegro becomes the 29th member of the NATO mission in Kosovo.
It is important that a neighbouring country, such as Montenegro, contribute to the peace and security environment as well as freedom of movement in the Western Balkans. The solution to become part of an operation within KFOR is a concrete step towards normalisation of the” region, KFOR Commander Salvatore Cuoci has said.
As stated by KFOR, Montenegrin Defence Minister Predrag Boskovic has attended the ceremony in Pristina.
Serbia has sometimes reacted against introducing Montenegrin forces into KFOR's composition in Kosovo after Montenegro's NATO membership.
