Macro: France, Germany lead a more united Europe

In a speech to the German Parliament's Lower Chamber on the occasion of honour for war victims, Macro said France and Germany's greatest responsibility was to gather forces that are for the EU.
Macron added that the two countries must share the decision-making process and lead policies on foreign issues, migration and development policies, increase budgets and build a joint defence strategy, Reuters reports.
He also called for concrete steps to be taken in the case of boosting nationalist parties in some member states.
Macron, who later met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, noted in a speech that the world is at <x0c> crossway”, where nationalist movements that “have no memory” oppose modern and progressive forces.
“Europe, and within it the alliance of France and Germany, is bound not to allow the world to pass into chaos”, Macron concluded.
