MacKron reacts to Trump: We're allies, but we're US vassals.

French President Emmanuel Macron told Donald Trump on Wednesday that France was the ally of the United States and not a vasal state, as the American president attacked him in a series of Twitter status states, which showed how relations between the two countries had deteriorated. In the five posts sent Tuesday, following a visit to Paris to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Trump reminded France of the imminent defeat of Germany in two wars, gave a blow to its summer industry and cited the Macron's fall in assessments of leadership, the Tch broadcast.
Trump had previously criticised Macroni's suggestion that a European army was necessary, in part, to reduce confidence in the American Army.
Asked in an interview aboard the plane “Charles de Gaulle”, if he was offended by Trump's reactions, Macron talked extensively about the long-standing military alliance between the two countries, the American Independence War and later.
“at any moment in our history, we were allies, so among the allies, respect is mandatory”, Macron told TF1 television. “I don't think the French expect me to respond on Twitter, but continue this important story,” he added.
But the question of whether there was a deeper misunderstanding between the two countries, following Macroni's comments about a European army, which angered Trump, the French president said the US ally did not mean to submit.
The United States is our historic ally and will continue to be. It's the ally we take all the risks with which we perform the most complicated operations. But being an ally does not mean being a vassal state”, Macron said.
The public dispute was in stark contrast to the friendly tone that had been a distinguishing sign of relations between the former banker and former real estate developers since Macron was elected in 2017.
After being invited to Paris to participate in the Bastia Day military parade in July last year, and when he hosted Macron and his wife for a state visit to Washington in January, Trump praised Makron as a big “djall” and “my friend”.
