On November 11th, a senior IOC official said it would be suggested to international sports federations not to give Spain the right to host important sports events as long as it does not provide equal treatment for all participants, so do Kosovo athletes. And immediately on November 14th, Wednesday, the Spanish government announced it would provide the visas needed for Kosovo athletes and allow them state symbols at sports events held in this country.
This was estimated to be a major victory in sports over politics, a major IOC victory as a sports umbrella organisation, but indirectly a major Kosovo sports victory, writes Koha Ditore today.
So far, Kosovo athletes have often had difficulties of political nature, but even Kosovo's political successes thanks to sports have been present. They have not been very frequent, but they have been highly valued.
Many of the sports' political successes were linked to the state's most successful jungle sport. And it is about events held in countries that do not recognise the state of Kosovo.
