Eurodeputs in the debate on the Progress Report for Serbia approved changes by Slovenian representative Igor 58oltes for Srebrenica, stating that “recognition of the genocide in Srebrenica is a fundamental step on Serbia's path to EU membership.”
“Sorry the repeated denial of genocide in Srebrenica of some Serbian officials and reminds them that full co-operation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the mechanisms that followed it also include obligations of accession and implementation of its judgments and decisions. Recognition of the genocide in Srebrenica is an essential step on Serbia's path towards EU membership”, said Igor owoltes, Eurodeputs of the Greens parliamentary group. After his presentation, the resolution was adopted in the final text with 533 votes for 85 against and 47 abstentions.
